A breadman who clearly needed the dough has been jailed for two years today.

Wayne Lynch, (39) from Trinity Gardens, Drogheda admitted bringing a gun to Slane in 2019.

He pleaded guilty to possessing a 7.65 Browning calibre Zoraki Model 2906 semi-automatic pistol at an unknown location in Slane on a date unknown in June

A member of the Coast Guard had found the pistol in a bin bag and the defendant’s DNA was subsequently found on the Browning semi-automatic pistol which was disguised and hidden in the bag.

The defendant told Gardai he was to have €1,000 wiped off a drugs debt after being prevailed on to deliver the weapon to a location in Slane on dates in June and November 2019.

His luck ran out though when he was caught with two other guns in Tallaght and jailed for four and a half years for that offence

Trim Circuit Court was told that Lynch, was due for release next month.

Judge Martina Baxter imposed a five-year sentence for the Slane offence but suspended the final three years.
