Rumours have swept the county that Colm O’Rourke may yet be a contender for the vacant Meath manager’s job and while they cannot be confirmed at the time of writing what is certain is that former Wicklow manager Davey Burke is in contention as the race to replace Andy McEntee nears end game.

Interviews took place over the weekend and while Burke has not been spoken to yet it is widely expected he will be inside the next 48 hours.

A Kildare native managed his home county to win an All Ireland under 20 crown and is seen as someone who could guide Meath’s crop of talented youngsters that won last year’s minor All Ireland as they step up to the senior ranks.
