The public is being warned to be vigilant following reports of a bogus caller targeting an elderly woman in Meath.

It’s alleged to have happened in the Kiltale/Dunsany area yesterday morning where a man called to a home claiming he’d found a sum of money.

He told the woman he wanted to go in and check her house but wasn’t allowed in.

A second man was driving the car he left the scene in, according to a post on the Moynalvey community alert Facebook page.

If you have someone elderly at home on their own be sure there is a family member or close friend in the community to keep a sharp eye

and contact the garda if you think you see suspicious behaviour.

However, don’t take unnecessary risk call the authorities who are trained to deal with these matters.
