There was no 7.30 am 70 Dublin bus all last week in Dunboyne.
Dublin bus has a reputation in the village for not showing up and now it’s ridiculous as people are having to spend their wages for their jobs on taxis to get to work.
Councillor Damien O’Reilly liaised with the company and received the following response
‘Dublin Bus, like a lot of companies, is starting to feel the impact of a highly competitive labour market. Â This has resulted in these services failing to operate due to driver shortages.
‘Dublin Bus held a recruitment day on 2 April which was a very successful event however, we have an ongoing recruitment campaign to recruit 450 drivers and 50 mechanics and engineering operatives, in what is the organisation’s biggest recruitment drive since 1989, to enable the projected growth and development of the organisation.
‘Dublin Bus monitors the performance of our services on an ongoing basis and Route 70 will be closely monitored to ensure that it does not drop below the standard expected by our customers.
‘Thank you for a message regarding the 07.30 Route 70. This service did not operate due to driver shortages. On behalf of Dublin Bus, we would like to apologise to you for the inconvenience caused.’
