A protest is set to take place this weekend against Dawn Meat’s plans to build a pipeline to discharge treated wastewater into the River Boyne.
A spokesman for the Save the Boyne group, Peter Whelan, told Meath Live that the protest will be in the shape of a 32 km walk along the banks of the river from Navan to Drogheda departing the Rampart
Meath County Council’s decision to grant planning permission for the seven-kilometre industrial pipeline has since been appealed to An Bord Pleanála.
Dawn Meats insists the multi-million euro investment at its site in Beauparc is “consistent with environmental best practice” and will produce compliant wastewater.
