Outcomers Dundalk is an LGBTQI+ community support organisation that serves Meath, Louth, Cavan, and Monaghan, and on Friday, September 2nd, it is hosting a Women’s Wellbeing and Rights Evening with Hayley Fox-Roberts in The Garage Theatre in Monaghan at 7 pm.

Hayley Fox-Roberts is a community development worker and LGBT+ activist with a long track record of working towards LGBT+ inclusion, with a focus on rural and marginalised LGBT+ communities.

In this event Hayley will make a keynote address, speaking from her working, voluntary and personal experience on the issues facing lesbian women living in rural Ireland. Emphasis will be on how we can increase well-being and how we identify – and obtain – our rights as lesbian women. Her presentation will be accompanied by visuals highlighting projects, actions and inclusion strategies – with a poem or two as well.  This will be followed by a facilitated Conversation Café in which participants can explore ideas and challenges with a view to creating future actions and positive change.

A long-time resident of county Leitrim, Hayley has experience with issues facing rural-dwelling and border communities. In 2018 she co-presented a multi-media performance ‘From the Bog to the Moon’ at the European Lesbian Conference in Vienna; her MA in Sexuality Studies focused on lesbian poetry in Ireland, and she recently achieved a Professional Diploma in Equality & Human Rights. Hayley now lives in rural county Cork, where amongst other work she manages the Seeding the County rural LGBT+ development project.

The event is free and open to all, encouraging lesbian women dwelling in rural Ireland to come together for an evening of informative, engaging conversation. It takes place from 7 pm – 9 pm at the Garage Theatre in Monaghan on September 2nd and registration, though not mandatory, can be made via Eventbrite
