The Save Navan Hospital Campaign is to stage a protest outside the HSE offices in Kells at 1pm on Friday September 16th over the planned downgrading of Navan A&E.

The group is also to seek advice on legally challenging the HSE’s plans to replace the emergency department at Our Lady’s Hospital with an acute medical assessment unit.

Meanwhile, the campaign group will this week employ a consultancy firm to carry out a cost-benefit analysis of investing in the A&E and keeping it open.

Campaign chairman Peadar Toíbín said, ‘We have collected 15000 signatures opposing the proposal and those people have made it clear they are resolutely against any closure.’
