Junior Business Minister and local TD Damien English says he has been given assurances from the Health Minister that Navan A&E will not be closing this month.

Stephen Donnelly previously ordered plans to convert the emergency department at Our Lady’s Hospital to a medical assessment unit be paused and a review be carried out.

English was responding to reports in the national media today that senior HSE officials, who noted the possibility of the Minister’s review, agreed to press ahead with the reconfiguration in September regardless.

He told LMFM’s Michael Reade show, ‘The Minister has made it very clear to me that no decision has been made.’
