The Knockharley CC U-15 With Thw winning Trophy
In an Invitation game played at their home grounds at Veldonstown, Brownstown Knockharley CC
“Old Boys” played a team touring from Southampton in the UK. The team Peartree travelled over to face their local opponents.
The Meath-based cricketers with some present players but a few who had drifted away with family and work commitments came together for the day including David Symons, Darragh Roundtree and Simon Waddington.
The visitors put up a credible score of 194 in 40 overs.
Knockharley followed with mixed fortune befalling the batsmen. The term a golden duck through the chase and a duck in the first over in the opening bat did not deter the other batsman Anthony Bellow leading the team to success with a fine batting performance for the team. He was always in control and took the game to the English opposition with his attacking play.

Anthony Bellew batted well before being caught behind by the wicketkeeper.
He made a commendable 65 with nine boundaries and sensible batting tactics, he put the runs on the board
in the chase for victory for the home team.
He was ably assisted in the chase by Ovais,43 not out and Raj,25 not. Winning by four wickets.
Following on the success and fun of the day, it has been suggested a Taverners team will be formed next year to keep
the older members involved with the game.
