Three raiders – who were all armed with knives – targeted the premises on the Fairyhouse Road at around 7 pm on Monday.

GardaĆ from Ashbourne Garda Station were on patrol in Ratoath Village when they observed the robbery and ran to the store where one individual was arrested.

Another individual was arrested following a short foot chase. However, a third individual managed to flee the scene##

A source told Meath Live that staff at the store were held at knife-point and that a twelve inch blade was produced during the course of the incident.

The men, aged in their 40s and 50s, were arrested for robbery and held for questioning at Ashbourne Garda Station.

They were later charged with one count of robbery each and appeared before Trim District Court on Tuesday, where they were remanded in custody to appear in court again on a future date.

Detectives are appealing to anyone with any information on the incident to contact Ashbourne Garda Station on 01 801 0600.

They particularly want to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the movements of these individuals before the robbery or observed any suspicious vehicles in Ratoath on Monday prior to 6.50 pm
