A review into HSE proposals regarding the closing of the Emergency Department at Our Lady’s Hospital in Navan has concluded.

The 17 members who make up the review team are believed to have held its final meeting last Friday.

The team will now draft its report which was commissioned by the Minister for Health Stephen Donnelly.

The review was commissioned in July and while the Terms of Reference call for a rapid review, however, it could take another 6-7 months, before the Minister will be able to act on the group’s recommendations.

At that stage with Leo Varadkar set to replace Micheál Martin under the rotating Taoiseach arrangement, there is every likelihood that the final decision will land on the desk of a new health minister.
