A 28-year-old man has been charged with the murder of his father, Stefan Nivelles Posschier at his home near the Meath/Westmeath border last month.
Ross O’Rourke of no fixed abode was remanded in custody after appearing before Mullingar District Court this morning.
A well-known tarot card reader and fortune teller, Mr. Posschier was found dead at his home in Rattin near Kinnegad on October 25th.
A post-mortem examination was later carried out on the body of the Belgium-born 65-year-old and detectives at Mullingar Garda Station then launched a murder investigation.
Detective Sergeant David Donnelly gave evidence of arrest, charge and caution during this morning’s brief sitting of Mullingar District Court.
The court was told Mr. O’Rourke made no reply and shook his head when the charges were put to him at 10.10am this morning.
He was then remanded in custody to Cloverhill Prison in Dublin to appear before Mullingar District Court again via video link this day next week.
Judge Bernadette Owens also granted legal aid to cover an independent psychiatric report.
