‘The voice of Navan will sing no more’, is how the news of the death of Tom Fitzsimons was broken to Meath Live on Saturday morning, and there was no need to put a name to the statement as for years the Mellows Terrace man was the king of the singers around the county town.

Forever linked with St Marys Musical Society, he was a co founder, it was appropriate that it was St Marys who broke the news on social media, posting on Facebook, ‘It’s with a sad heart we announce the passing of one of our founding members and past Chair of the society Tom Fitzsimons. May he rest in peace.’

Funeral arrangements as follows;

Reposing at St Joseph’s Chapel of Rest Old Johnstown, Navan (C15 C425), on Sunday from 3pm to 5.45pm, with removal at 6pm to arrive at St. Mary’s Church, Navan, for 6.30 pm. Funeral Mass Monday at 10am with burial afterwards in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Navan. Family flowers only please, donations, if desired, to Navan Meals on Wheels
