‘The voice of Navan will sing no more’, is how the news of the death of Tom Fitzsimons was broken to Meath Live on Saturday morning, and there was no need to put a name to the statement as for years the Mellows Terrace man was the king of the singers around the county town.
Forever linked with St Marys Musical Society, he was a co founder, it was appropriate that it was St Marys who broke the news on social media, posting on Facebook, ‘It’s with a sad heart we announce the passing of one of our founding members and past Chair of the society Tom Fitzsimons. May he rest in peace.’
