A fourteen year old violinist from Enfield is set to feature in a massive show piece concert in legendary New York venue, Carnegie Hall on St Paricks weekend.

Asha Szlachta only joined the, Dundalk based, Cross Border Orchestra in August but was chosen for the once in a life time opportunity of playing in one of the world’s most prestigious music venues.

And her mother Dorota told Meath Live the scale of the show and its location hasn’t quite sunk in yet.

‘When you think of the big name acts that have played Carnegie Hall and then consider the even bigger names who haven’t and then realise a young girl starting out has been given the opportunity it is a real ‘wow’ moment.

‘Asha is really excited by it and if she has any nerves about it she is keeping them well hidden all she says is that she is going to enjoy it.’

A Go Fund Me page has been set up to cover the cost of the trip and donations can be made at https://www.gofundme.com/f/eqkr3-orchestra-trip-to-new-york?utm_campaign=p_lico+share-sheet&utm_medium=chat&utm_source=whatsapp-visit
