Gardai are warning of a scam that has emerged recently where a letter (see below) supposedly form the force Commissioner Drew Harris claims that Gardai have discovered the recipient has been viewing porn websites and needs to contact them immediately via email to clarify why.
A Garda spokesman said, ‘Even though there are lots of issues with this email that flag it as bogus, it can still catch people out if you read it without scrutinising it carefully. It is designed by the scammers to illicit fear and obtain money by deception.
‘The language is vague and written in a way to make you contact the emailer.
‘Be wary of unsolicited emails and texts’.
