A low temperature and ice warning has been issued for Louth and Meath tonight.

The status yellow alert is also valid for surrounding counties including Cavan and Monaghan as well as Donegal, Longford, Westmeath and all of Connacht.

The warning comes into effect from 9pm tonight and lasts until 9am tomorrow morning.

Met Éireann says freezing temperatures will lead to hazardous conditions, including icy stretches on roads and footpaths.

Meanwhile, a separate snow and ice warning has been issued for Louth and Meath from 6am on Thursday morning until midnight on Friday.

The forecaster says a spell of rain will move up over the country on Thursday morning, turning to sleet and snow with some accumulations expected.

The sleet and snow may lead to hazardous driving conditions and travel disruption.
