Edel Gaffney, Trim AC claimed a silver medal in the 8km cross country race at the World Masters in Torun in Poland.
Gaffney galloped home at the head of a very strong Irish squad which included, Bettystown runner Aoife Parella (Star of the Sea AC) and Longford’s Fiona Getttings.
Less than 48 hours after her cross country heroics Gaffney ran a wonderful 36.12 to claim the bronze medal in the W35 category of the 10km to round off a very satisfying pair of performances for her.
The medal haul concludes a season of great masters athletics’ successes in the green singlet of Ireland which began in November with her debut at the masters international cross country in Santry.
