Two men believed to have been involved in numerous burglaries in Meath and Dublin have been arrested following a high-speed chase in the capital yesterday and are due to appear in court this morning.

The men, one aged in his 20s and the other in his late teens, are suspected of being involved in multiple recent robberies in the two counties.

They are due to appear before Tallaght District Court this morning at 10.30am.

It is understood they were, similar to other criminal gangs, seeking to take advantage of Gardai’s reluctance to chase suspects in cars following the recent decision to charge a serving officer following a fatal collision after a high speed pursuit.

Gardaí say the male juvenile who was also arrested as part of their investigation has since been released without charge pending a referral to the Garda Youth Diversion Programme.

Meanwhile, a woman arrested at the scene for public order offences has been released without charge pending adult caution.

Investigations are continuing.
