A Garda car was rammed by a stolen vehicle in Navan in the early hours of Monday.
The dramatic incident happened on the Athboy road shortly after 1am when Gardai noticed a car acting suspiciously.
When they signalled the driver to stop he drove the car directly at the patrol car ramming into it before taking off.
A pursuit then ensued with the car eventually stopped when a stinger was deployed in Delvin,county Westmeath.
Subsequently a 24 year old man was arrested and has been charged.
Investigations found that the car had been stolen from the Laytown area on Friday, 2nd June with some items of stolen property also found in the vehicle.
The driver appeared in court yesterday charged with several offences including the unauthorised taking of a car, dangerous driving, theft, criminal damage to the window of a public house in Navan, possession of a controlled drug and possession of stolen property.
