All-Ireland ladies football champions Meath have appointed Jenny Rispin as their interim manager until the end of the season, following the shock departure of Davy Nelson after just eight months at the helm.
Rispin, who occupied the same role during the 2015-16 season, will face Waterford in her first game in charge during her latest tenure on Sunday, 25 June.
Nelson stepped down last Sunday, with his side losing to Dublin in the Leinster decider a week beforehand, while their league campaign yielded a solitary win.
Reacting to the news, Rispin said: “I am hugely proud to have been entrusted with this role following on from some amazing people.
“I hope to bring some continuity and stability to the set-up where the focus is now solely on the upcoming TG4 All-Ireland series.”
Meath chairperson Colm McManus said: “The management are looking forward to getting down to business with the short run in to their first game and we would like to thank Jenny and her pending backroom team for their commitment to the county.”
