A fire has broken out just after 6.00 pm this evening at the Academy Square apartments on the Dublin Road in Navan
There was plumes of smoke and toxic fumes seen spiralling from the undergound area and first floor.
Emergency services arrived about 6.15 pm and an eye witness informed Meath Live ‘that there wew lots of bangs or pops of
explosions.’
‘The smoke was toxic and difficult to breath’ the eye witness added.
We have been also informed that the buildings have been evacuated and after about 50 minutes an ambulance arrived followed by 2 more fire engines.
We do not have any information if anyone has been injured or suffered loss of life at this stage.

There are over 132 apartments at Academy Square with a number of creches and office buildings at the location.
