Last night a woman was seriously assaulted in Navan.
The attack took place on the Commons road beside the level crossing which is adjacent to The Cottage Pharmacy. It is believed the woman was found lying on the pavement just outside the apartments.
Gardai, emergency services and forensics team arrived at the crime scene and the area was sealed off for a time.
The incident happened sometime between 5.00pm and 7.00pm yesterday evening.

A man was was arrested at the scene according to an eye witness and brought to Navan Garda Station.
Meath Live spoke to a number of local people living and working around the Common road this morning.
One told us as he was walking to work where he could see the place was full of police activity.
Another source confirmed there had been an attack just opposite the busy Centra shop that day.
