It is with deep regret we record the sad passing earlier today of Dunboyne based Fianna Fáil councillor Damien O’Reilly.
Meath Live understands that Damien died as he drove to hospital having begun to feel unwell at home earlier today.
A hugely popular politician, in his forties, Mr. O’Reilly topped the poll in Ratoath Municipal District in the 2019 local elections and was elected on the first count with over 500 votes to spare.
Paying tribute Meath East Sinn Féin TD Darren O’Rourke has said Mr O’Reilly “lived and breathed community” and was a “trojan worker” who is gone far too young.
Mr. O’Reilly is survived by his wife, year old baby, older son and mother
