Meath council chairman Tommy Reilly has told Meath Live of his devastation at the death of close friend and party colleague Damien O’ Reilly who died suddenly this morning.
Reilly said, ‘I am heartbroken we had a father and son relationship, the first day Damien got elected one of his supporters asked me to ‘mind this young fella’, I promised him I would and I stuck to my word.
‘Not that Damien needed much minding he was a smart, intelligent young man who had a huge future ahead of him.
‘I’m not a man who is often stuck for words but after I heard the news I struggled to string a sentence together, I have lost my best friend in politics and Meath has lost a brilliant public representative.”
