Navan…………………. 12
Banbridge…………… 22
(H/T: 0-12)
Two first half tries without reply for the visitors set the tone for this round four Energia All-Ireland league Division 2A contest in Balreask old between Navan and Banbridge on Saturday.
Banbridge got the first score of the game with a converted try scored by their hooker following up after the visitors got a #break in the Navan defence.
This was followed up with a second try (unconverted) after a series of pick and go’s by the Banbridge forwards.
This left the home side 0-12 down at the break.
The second half started positively for Navan with outhalf Evan Dixon getting in under the posts to score Navan’s first try of the afternoon five minutes into the second half, Mark Farrell converted to close the gap to five points.
Banbridge though extended their lead again by sending over a penalty kick between the posts. The visitors then looked to have finished the game off as a contest with ten minutes to go by scoring their third try of the game.
Navan made it a tense finish by grabbing their second try of the game six minutes from the end with team Captain Sean McEntaggart getting over and Farrell adding the conversion, however Banbridge held out to take the win.
