Drogheda Utd are in new ownership after club members voted overwhelmingly in favour of a 100 per cent purchase of the club by American Investment firm Trivela at a Special meeting on Monday night.

Of the 91 votes cast, 90 were in favour of the proposal put forward by the Board.

The acquisition means Drogheda now join a portfolio which also includes English League Two club Walsall, and ends an exhaustive search for new investment.

However Walsall fans have been messaging Drogs fans on Facebook saying that while Trivela have invested in off the field infrastructure the Saddlers have received little support in terms of new players arriving to strengthen a team that is currently 15th in the table.
