It might not have the glamour of the FA Cup but for one Meath man the FA Trophy represents an opportunity to play in a Wembley final.

Duleeks Shane Dunne will line out for National League side Hampton and Richmond in the competitions third round away at Southend United tomorrow after helping the Beavers to a 1-1 league draw against Braintree on Tuesday night,

Dunne who won a League Of Ireland first division title with Wexford Youths is heading for his pro licence in coaching and is currently working with the under 16 side in Premier League Brentfords Academy.

Arriving at H&R in January 2022, Shane joined the Beavers from Woking. The midfielder had previously spent two years in Australia with the Goulbourn Valley Suns, and represented numerous clubs in his while at university, he represented Irish Colleges at the World University Games in Taiwan. After a fine first full season at Hampton, Dunne was named Manager’s Player of the Year for 2022/23.
