The fifth and final stage of the 2024 Ras Tailteann on Sunday, May
26th will be mainly contested on the roads of Meath before the finish
at Bective.
The race will start in Tullamore on the previous Wednesday and the
overall distance of 784.9 km will take in a total of 18 ascents, making
the course hillier than in the last few years.
“There will be a number of tricky climbs along the route”, sais race
director Gerard Campbell, who again expects a strong international
flavour to the popular event, which was first staged in 1953.
The first stage will take the riders from Tullamore to Kilmallock in
Limerick with stage two going from Kanturk, Co Cork to Sneem in Kerry.
The third stage will be from Kenmare to Cahir in Tipperary and the
Saturday spin will wind its way from Horse and Jockey to Kildare town.
The final stage of 156 km will start in Maynooth and pass through
Dunboyne, Ratoath, Ashbourne, Stamullen, Julianstown, Laytown,
Drogheda, Donore and Garlow Cross before the cyclists will do three
laps of a 14.1km circuit before the race finish at Bective.
