The Aontú candidate in the Laytown/Bettystown area in this Junes local elections, is to hold a public meeting in the Vilage Hotel in Bettystown on Thursday night, (Feb 22nd), to highlight a number of issues.

Peter Whelan will be joined by party leader Peadar Toíbin at the event.

Whelan told Meath Live, “This Government has created a perfect storm for communities like ours. The inability for families to keep their loved ones in the local area because of the lack of suitable homes is feeding emigration, whilst people across Meath find it harder and harder to accessible suitable healthcare, either locally or in acute hospitals.

I am constantly hearing from residents about their struggles to make ends meet and the desire to see someone standing up for them – that is what Aontú and I are doing both locally and in the Dáil.

I am holding this public meeting with my party leader in order to give a voice for those who are under pressure, but also to reassure my community that we as a party have a grasp of the issues important to them and have the energy and determination to serve as opposed to the Government parties who remain caught up in culture wars and reactionary politics.

I invite every member of the community to come along on Thursday 22nd February to hear from Peadar and I, to put forward their views and to come together to look for solutions.”
