Sport Minister and Local Fianna Fáil TD, Thomas Byrne, has announced €533,724 in core funding for the Meath Local Sports Partnership for 2024.

Speaking at the National Sports Campus, Byrne announced a record investment of almost €30 million in core funding support to sporting organisations across the country, for 2024.

€17.3 million is being invested in the National Governing Bodies of Sport this year which amounts to an increase of €1.3 million on the previous year. Meanwhile, €11.4 million is being allocated by the Government, through Sport Ireland, across the 29 Local Sports Partnerships.

This is the highest-ever level of core investment by the Government into National Governing Bodies and Local Sports Partnerships with an increase of almost €11.9m in funding since 2018.

Minister Byrne told Meath  Live, “I am committed to supporting Irish sport and ensuring that sports bodies can continue to provide valuable opportunities for everyone to participate in sport. Local Sports Partnerships do excellent work in supporting participation in sport and physical activity at the grassroots level. The investment package of over €500,000 for Meath Local Sports Partnership that I announced today will provide continued support to the valuable work undertaken across our county and I want to thank Meath LSP for all of the valuable work they do.”
