Cllr Joe Bonner has contacted local media including us at Meath Live,
to voice his annoyance at the way Uisce Eireann/Irish Water are treating people.
He said ” The message below is the notice I have received this evening from Uisce Eireann.”
” In my opinion this is totally unacceptable. We now have Uisce Eireann issuing a water notice for the entire area from Trim to Ashbourne.
If this is the situation then things have reached a new low !”
” I’m asking Uisce Eireann to come out and make a public statement in relation to their service delivery in Co. Meath.
I’ve highlighted the issue with LMFM (as well) and they said they will broadcast the issue in the morning.
When Meath Live checked the Irish Water website, we found similar messages, it looks like there is water shortages warnings all over the county.
From the councillors situation including Councillor Bonner , the public contact them or Meath Co Council to complain.
All issues that deal with water are now the complete responsibility of Uisce Eireann/ Irish Water and will they will liaise with them they have no responsibility
with water issues.
At this week’s Monthly meeting Cllr Bonner asked the question what happens with raw sewage when it is flowing down the streets, surely we
have a health and safety he enquired.” In the past Meath Co Council dealt with water related issues more efficiently.” he said
Joe Bonner has contacted Irish Water with numerous water and sewage spills but just gets standard replies and no improvement of services.

Customers in the following areas may experience outages or reduced pressure: Trim, Knightsbrook, Scurlockstown, Effernock, Carberstown, Blackfriary, Crowpark, Clonbun, Rathmolyon, Ratoath, Ashbourne and surrounding areas to allow reservoir levels to increase.
Uisce Éireann’s Michael Cunniffe thanked the local community for continuing to help conserve water during daytime hours.
“We understand the inconvenience that restrictions cause, but they are necessary if we are to ensure we have a daytime supply for all our customers. We continue to monitor the reservoir levels each day and we will provide an update if further restrictions are needed. We thank customers for their patience.
“The majority of customers should have adequate storage in their attic tanks to provide for essential uses such as flushing toilets for the duration of this restriction. However, customers can help conserve water by not running taps needlessly, taking showers instead of baths and postponing using dishwashers and washing machines where possible.
“Customers can find useful water saving tips on our website www.water.ie/conserve. This also includes an easy-to-use conservation calculator so you can work out how much water you are currently saving and how to conserve even more.”

Meanwhile, Uisce Éireann continues with works to improve the water supply in Trim including interim upgrades at the treatment plant which are due for completion this year.
Our longer-term plan to upgrade Trim Water Treatment Plant and secure the water supply for current and future generations is also progressing. This includes works to upgrade and modernise the plant and address ongoing operational issues, meet demand, enhance resilience, and ensure that the drinking water supplies meet requirements under the Drinking Water Regulations. Planning permission has been granted and, following additional consents and pre-construction works, it is envisaged that construction will commence in Q4. We will continue to provide updates on timelines as we progress the project.
The Uisce Éireann customer care helpline is open 24/7 on 1800 278 278 and customers can also contact us on X @IWCare with any queries.
