The Flat season continues apace at Fairyhouse this Friday with an action-packed eight-race card on offer for punters heading to the County Meath track.

Racing gets underway at 4.35 pm with an 11-runner maiden contest before rounding off at 8.17 pm with a division two handicap.

The opener (4.35) is over the six furlong distance at Fairyhouse and preference in the first race on the card goes to Easy Mover for the powerhouse Aidan O’Brien yard, fresh off success in the Derby with City Of Troy. Easy Mover makes her racecourse debut here and is highly respected, also holding an entry in the Group 2 Airlie Stud Stakes at the Curragh in June.

Race two (5.10) looks a very competitive auction stakes over six furlongs and seven competitors will head to the start. Last year’s winner of this race, Tango Flare, is back for more in 2024 and commands respect having had a useful spin on his seasonal reappearance when fourth at the Curragh a fortnight ago. Warrior Brave was also successful on this card 12 months ago and enters calculations for trainer Ross O’Sullivan.

The third race on the Fairyhouse card is the eight-runner Tote Handicap over seven furlongs (5.40). The Noel Meade-trained Desert Haven looks the one to beat, a course and distance winner that also scored at Leopardstown earlier this season before following up with a second at Naas back on May 19.

The midway point of Fairyhouse’s card arrives at 6.10 as a large field of 17 tackle the seven furlong maiden for horses three and older. Galen should be bang up there this time having looked useful for Joseph O’Brien when last seen finishing second over this course and distance. An Mhi Abu was encouraging on his Leopardstown debut and rates as the main danger from the Gavin Cromwell yard.

Race five (6.40) sees another well-bred O’Brien newcomer, Oklahoma City, head to the track for the first time and is taken to be successful in the 1m4f maiden stakes, while race six (7.10) can go the way of Lady Doris, who has improved with each run for trainer Donnacha O’Brien including a win at Navan and is sent handicapping for the first time off what looks like a very tempting mark.

A division one handicap marks the penultimate race on Fairyhouse’s Friday card at 7.42 and of the large field of 16, Charlie Luciano is returning to the Flat off an appealing mark having had a spin over fences at Wexford last time out and is the selection here over the 1m4f distance.

Finally, the card comes to a close with division two of the 47-65 rated handicap (8.17) and is another big field of 16, with preference for Chutzpal from the Henry de Bromhead team, back down in trip on his first run for his new yard and back on track for the first time since December 2023.
