Bellewstown delivered a first win for Alyse Clarke pictured above, well backed The Bog Bank was

a comfortable winner in The Peadar Kearney’s Pub Apprentice Handicap over 7 furlongs for

the Kentstown woman.

There was market support from the morning backed in from 14/1 to 5/1 at the off. The Tommy

McCourt trained bay was a course and distance winner having won last year at the track.

Noel Meade and Colin Keane struck a double with Sugar Club in the first race and LethimFly

in the third race both going off as firm favourites.

Meanwhile there was another double on the evening card with Wesley Joyce landing a

84/1 return. Micheal Mulvany’s  charge got up on the line with a well time finish to get up

by a 1/2 length in the Indaver Handicap 5 furlong. Joyce landed the double in the seventh

race on Futurum Regem over 1 mile 6  in The Smith Ford Classic Handicap. Always in

contention on the tight track when asked to produce found plenty to win by 31/4 lengths

from Say it So and fancied favourite Macinamillion 5/6 fav. Returned at 14/1 the one of owners,

Morgan Ryan from Nenagh was delighted with 8 year old win and said they might be back on Saturday

over the hurdles for the dual winner. Trained by Hugh Paul Finegan in Nobber.

In other results, the ever young Kevin Prendergast trained the winner of the second race with

Copie Conforme in The Champion Lettings 7 furlong ridden by Gary Halpin. Johnny Murtagh

also trained Viyanni 5/1 for the Aga Khan Stud in Div 1 of The Smith’s Ford Classic ridden

in the famous colours by Ben Coen.

The finale of the night was won by second favourite Eagles Way 5/2 ridden by Mr D McGill

and trained by William Durkan in The Seamus Mulvaney Crockafotha (QR) Race over 1 mile 4

furlong.

On a night of mixed weather with sun, blustery wind and of course the odd belt of rain, the crowd

enjoyed themselves with plenty of entertainment through the day with plenty of local support up

at the hill.

Regem.

The Summer Festival continues today and tomorrow, if you haven’t been there give it a day out

with family and friends, both cards are evening meetings first races off at 4.05 pm Friday and

4.53 pm on Saturday.

The Bellewstown Race Committee extended sympathy to the family of the late Jim and Mabel

Corcoran who passed away and were avid regulars at Bellewstown Jim only passing last

Sunday and Mabel in late April of this year. Mr Corcoran served with distinction for over 20 years at

the Hill of Crockafotha.
