Fairyhouse Racecourse hosts its latest Flat card of the Summer season on Wednesday with a seven-race offering for punters to enjoy heading to the track.
Racing gets underway at 4.50pm with a one mile and two furlong claiming race for three-year-olds before rounding off at 8.00pm with a big field handicap for horses rated between 47 and 65.
Read below for the latest Horse racing betting tips for the card at Fairyhouse on Wednesday:
The opening race of the afternoon (4.50) sees nine runners head to post for the claiming race, a contest only open to three-year-old horses over the one mile and two furlong distance. Preference in the first race heads to Signor Ferrari, who is in better order than his recent form suggests, having been 6lb out of the weights when seventh at the Curragh ten days ago and, on paper, looks the one to beat on level terms this time around.
Race two on the card (5.25) is a maiden race for the two-year-olds, held over the six furlong trip and 12 runners are set to take it on. Rudi’s Apple’s sixth in the Windsor Castle at Royal Ascot is by far and away the best form on show for trainer Joseph O’Brien, so he is taken to pick up his first win ahead of Black Forza, fifth of 14 in a Curragh maiden on debut and is open to further progress.
Six runners will take their place at the starting line for race three on the card, a one mile and six furlong Rated Race (6.00), with Sixpack the selection here for trainer Johnny Murtagh, with two wins under his belt from five runs this year and a landed a career-best when taking a course and distance handicap 26 days ago, bidding for the hat-trick this week.
The Group 3 Fillies and Mares’ Stanerra Stakes marks the midway point of the Fairyhouse card and is the feature race of the day, with a cool €42,000 up for grabs to the winner (6.30). Magical Zoe has already shown what she is capable of over hurdles and, having been eased down to win hands and heels at Down Royal on flat debut for trainer Henry De Bromhead, should be the class of the eleven-strong field here. Of her rivals, the progressive Countess Of Tyrone for trainer Paddy Twomey should be bang in there after a Down Royal win on May 31 and is improving with every run she gets under her belt.
A whopping field of 21 will line up for race five at 7.00 to take on the seven furlong distance with preference for Monasterboice, who has the best form heading in after a second at Limerick, while the penultimate race on the card (7.30) can go to Lexington Dash, who shaped well over this course and distance last month to finish third.
Finally, the card comes to a close with the 47-65 rated handicap and it’s another full field of 21 tackling the seven furlong distance head on. Gosford looks the one to bear here having landed a 14-runner contest at Roscommon just over a week ago and can defy a 6lb hike in the weights. The Ed Lynam-trained runner is preferred to Navorrosse, who returned to form when second in a Leopardstown handicap 27 days ago.
