There is little doubt this was an action to keep Muslim Asylum Seekers from entering the lands as it would be deemed unclean ground in their faith. As tensions continue to mount locals have maintained a 24 vigil at the entrance of the site. They are demanding to know what is going on.
Meath Live spoke to a local yesterday at Thornton Hall entrance who declined to comment on the incident.
At this weeks monthly meeting of Meath County Councillors members have expressed their concerns too, with the ongoing situation. At yesterday’s Ashbourne Municipal meeting it was unanimously agreed by the six elected councillors to write to The Department of Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth to seek further clarification as to what is actually going on. Cllr Joe Bonner confirmed the action and has said ” We will also write to the local TD’s and request a meeting. As public representatives we should be kept up to date with developments and this is not the case. We have a right to know and to be able to inform our constituents.
