A man caught with a stash of drugs at his Ashbourne home was told by a judge that he would see the harm drugs do if he was in the court every day. Judge Eirinn McKiernan was speaking to defendant Glen Corduff, Tudor Close, Ashbourne who was before Trim District Court on drug possession charges. The court was told that on 8th September 2022 Gardai acting on a warrant raised the defendant’s home. During a search they found €3,329 worth of illegal drugs along with weighing scales, empty plastic bags and €480 in cash.
Garda McCarragher told the court that following his arrest defendant made a full admission. He had been fully co-operative with the Gardai and had not come to Garda attention since 2022. He had no previous convictions, the Garda said. A defending solicitor said that his client was 18 years ol at the time of the offence. He had a cocaine addiction and was in debt to a drug dealer. He had gone “cold turkey” in getting rid of his addiction and was now “clean” for over two years. .
Judge McKiernan ordered a probation report to be prepared and put the case back to 6th May next for further consideration.
