Since February 2022, Meath County Council has delivered 1,533 new units through the Housing for All programme exceeding their five-year social housing delivery target in just over three years. Launched in September 2021, the government’s Housing for All programme is a multi-annual plan to enable the supply of over 300,000 homes by 2030.

Meath County Council Chief Executive Kieran Kehoe said: “We are pleased to exceed the targets assigned to us in the Housing for All programme so soon, but the work doesn’t stop there.

“We remain extremely focused on adopting innovative strategies for housing delivery and we will continue to deliver high-quality housing solutions to meet the diverse needs of all our communities here in Meath.”

The 1,533 units delivered are a mixture of one to four bed homes and are developments that will assist in a variety of Meath County Council initiatives including homeless prevention, Age Friendly, facilitating access to homes for people with disabilities, and providing accommodation supports for people in the traveller community.

Meath County Council’s Housing Department is currently part of the accelerated delivery programme and is providing direct construction units using modern methods of construction. Design and Build contracts are also being used to improve delivery times. Meath County Council expects to deliver an additional 350 homes this year and is currently projecting that a minimum total of 2,100 homes will be delivered over the lifetime of the Housing for All 2022-2026 Programme.
