The Flat is back at Bellewstown Racecourse this weekend as the track hosts a seven-race card on the level. Racing kicks off at 4.20pm with a seven furlong maiden contest for three-year-old’s, before the action comes to a close at 7.25pm with a mile and a half maiden race.

The meeting gets underway at 4.20 with an auction maiden over seven furlongs for three-year-old runners. Jorge Alvares showed plenty in Britain and is now in the shrewd hands of Ger Lyons, so is taken to get the job done in the opener. €50,000 yearling Atsila is an intriguing newcomer for trainer Donnacha O’Brien and could play a big part here.
Race two on the card sees a field of 16 head to the start for the three-year-old’s handicap over seven furlongs (4.50). Endless Dawn has been shaping well enough for trainer Ado McGuinness since the turn of the year in six runs and is switched back to the turf here for his latest outing and gets the nod. Chriselli finished in front of the selection when fourth on handicap debut so strikes as the clear danger.
Higher Kingdom is turned out quickly having ran fourth at Gowran three days ago and could make it a quickfire double for the McGuinness yard in the seven furlong apprentice handicap (5.20) while Aurora Nova is taken to get the job done in race four of the evening (5.55) despite running off top-weight as she has ran well when fresh before and this is her first spin of 2025.
Hero Of The Hour looks the way to go in race five (6.25) as 11 runners tackle the five furlong sprint handicap, with the Tom McCourt runner shading the vote in a weak looking race having got back on the right path when fifth at Dundalk just over a fortnight ago.
The penultimate race on the Bellewstown card (6.55) could bring up a hat-trick on the day for trainer McGuinness with Doctor Grace, who is without a win in 11 starts but is a consistent type and was a very good fifth at Dundalk a fortnight ago and enjoys a big 6lb pull in the weights here.
Finally, the card comes to a close with the maiden contest of the mile and a half trip (7.25) with preference in the finale heading the way of Luker’s Tipple, trained by Andrew Kinirons, tenth in the Fred Winter at the Cheltenham Festival and now back on the level here so is of very serious interest.
