There was some good news for residents of three estates in Kells and Carlanstown – Meath County Council has now taken them in charge. The estates are Wilmount View Kells; Lynfield Kells and Borora Crescent Carlanstown. There is a declaration that the roads within these developments will be public roads in accordance with Section 11 Roads Act 1993 and the Planning and Development Acts 2000-2023.

A council official told councillors that the two Kells estates were “conventional estates” recently built and completed to a satisfactory standards by the developer for the purpose of taking in charge. Both schemes had been on public display and there had been no submissions made by the closing date for public consultation, 21st March.

Borora Crescent is an older estate, the official said and dated back to when the council had a settlement with the bank to finance the work required to bring it up to a standard for taking in charge. The council did this “under enforcement” at the time and the council had been waiting a residents’ request.

A formal request to take in charge had been awaited from residents and when that came in the council was able to progress it. No submissions or objections had been received under public consultation. The Carlanstown project had been done at no expenses to the county
council, the official said.
