Judge Ciaran Liddy remarked “this lady has an issue with alcohol and authority.” When he convicted 25 year-old Jordan Potts of Knightsbrook Park, Trim of assaulting the general manager of a local hotel pulling out hair of the injured party. This occurred when the injured party went to eject her. The defendant also was before Trim District Court on Thursday in regard to another incident when she was refused entry to a nite club at Ludlow Street, Navan on a separate date.
She asked a Garda to intervene and ended up being arrested for public order offences for failing to leave the area and threatening, abusive and insulting behaviour. Her barrister Paul Noctor said the latter incident was on her birthday. He said she was anxious to complete her qualification to work with special needs children and their families.
Judge Liddy said the defendant took exception to being ejected and in her own words re-acted. She committed the “despicable act “of pulling out the hotel manager’s hair. After hearing the evidence in the matter he said he was satisfied the defendant carried out the assault.
Judge Liddy adjourned the charges to obtain a probation and welfare report on the defendant, telling her he was “not making any promises” He was adopting a “wait and see approach”
He put the matters back for mention to July 17th next, and said that he would deal with them in September or October. The Court heard that the assault occurred on January 1 2023 at Highfield, Trim. The general manager said she asked the defendant to leave, and described her was “very shook” by the incident.
Garda Carberry who was called to the premises said he saw a bald patch from a clump of hair that was pulled from the injured party party’s head. He identified the defendant from CCTV of the incident which was played in court. The defendant said she re-acted to the manager grabbing her. She admitted she had five or six pints to drink.
