A second application for planning for an International Protection Applicant centre in Trim has been made to Meath County Council. Trim Councillor Noel French is reporting on his Facebook page that the application is for a centre to accommodate 180 people. He is speculating that this application may not be as easily defeated as the first one but he is awaiting further information.
The council has confirmed that it has received an application for the declaration of an exempted development from “Management Limited” at Fairgreen, Summerhill Road. The application states that the centre will be for “accommodation for up to a maximum of 180 persons seeking international protection.
The proposal will provide indoor recreation, dining/kitchen rooms, reception area, toilets, showers and circulatory spaces. There will be office space and staff facilities.”In a separate application made earlier this month Erin Park Ltd proposed an IPA centre for the Oak Tree Business Park. A decision on that application is to be made by the county council by the end of this month.
