Irish comedian Dylan Moran is set to channel his inner thespian when he takes to the boards to make his Shakespearian debut in August.

The 54 year old will star in a production of As You Like It in Baths Theatre royal in a show set to be produced by film star Ralph Fiennes. A cast of top stars including Charlie Rowe and Dame Harriet Walter will line out alongside the Navan man.

Appropriately Moran will play the character of court jester Touchstone in the production. Touchstone, the court fool, is a character who provides both comic relief and insightful commentary on the other characters and their behaviors. He is known for his witty and bawdy language, his tendency to be cruel in his jokes, and his eventual marriage to Audrey.

While it is Moran’s first venture into the works of the great bard of Stratford on Avon it is far from his first acting role. He previously starred in the hit movies Shaun Of the dead and Notting Hill.
