Lobinstown man Tommy Meade was escort to this year’s Rose of Tralee winner, Rose Katelyn who resented Laois. The trainee electrician is the first time a Laois Rose who was the famous competition that draws contestants with Irish connections from all over the globe. Tommy’s brother is Cllr Paddy Meath who expressed his good wishes, ” Huge congratulations to my brother, Tommy Meade, and the beautiful Laois Rose Katelyn Cummins on a fantastic night winning the Rose of Tralee! They even lit up the stage with some brilliant jive.”

Incidentally it is ten year since the Meath Rose won the competition back in 2015. Elysha Brennan, was second year medical student at RCSI at the time and the first and only time a Meath Rose won the competition. She was from Bettystown in County Meath at the time. Ten years ago doesn’t time fly! Well done to all.
