Sinn Fein Cllr Peter Caffrey asked at a Kells Municipal District meeting how much of the €3 million allocated to Kells MD roads was spent in 2025. He raised the issue at the MD meeting on Monday. Officials responded that 26 per cent of the €3 million allocated – about €811,000 – was allocated from the Additional Own Resources Allocation in August 2025, specifically to the roads in the Kells Municipal District for restoration improvement. It is intended that all of this allocation will be spent this year.

“The Transportation Department will continue to work on these schemes until the end of 2025 and would not be in a position to calculate the final outturn costs until year end reconciliation has been completed early in 2026”, Cllr Caffrey was told.
