Meath East Fianna Fail TD and Minister For State has announced that Meath will see additional Gardai deployed to the south of the county which has experienced massive growth in population. It will come as welcome news to the locality with the growing amount of antisocial behaviour and more policing needed to serve the community.
When covering Ashbourne Municipal Meetings local councillors have continually spoken of the lack of policing in the community. In his comment on his social media page this week, he is quoted as saying; “Really positive news for Meath-East today with the allocation of new 13 new Gardai to Ashbourne Station. I’m delighted to receive this confirmation from my colleague Minister Jim O’Callaghan, and I will continue to advocate for increased resources to support the safety of our local communities here in Meath-East.”
Meanwhile there will be plenty of Gardai on duty in Ashbourne this weekend as the county final will be hosted in Ashbourne Gaa club.
With Pairc Tailteann in the midst of a major revamp and not available, The Meath County Board selected Ashbourne as the venue for the final of the 2026 Keegan Cup. The final is due to be played tomorrow at 2.00 pm Wolfe Tone V Donaghmore/Ashbourne.
