The Garda Commissioner has again given a committment to provide a new Garda station for Laytown.

Drew Harris and Justice Minister Helen McEntee visited the station yesterday evening when the leader of the force made his statement.

Last years beach protest.

Last week, a number of other changes were introduced, which saw Laytown becoming a core-unit response station, operating on a 24/7 basis with four core units.

The commitment from the top of the force comes in the wake of a June 2021 protest led by local woman Tania O’ Neill which saw thousands gather on Bettystown beach to call for a new station.
