The death has occurred of Bernard (Barney) O’Dowd, Tullaghmeadow, Drumree, Meath. He also lived at Kilcarn, Navan and and before that The Slopes, Ballydougan, Co. Down.
He passed away peacefully in his 101st year surrounded by his loving family at Connolly Hospital, Blanchardstown. Last year, the 3rd of May he celebrated his 100th, pictured above
with some of his family.
Predeceased by his wife Kathleen in 1999, and his sons Barry and Declan in January 1976 following a loyalist paramilitary attack at their home. Barney was seriously injured on the day. His brother Joe was also murdered in the attack. Barney and his family moved to Navan shortly afterwards.
Bernard will be very sadly missed by his loving family Mary, Noel, Loughlin, Ronan, Eleanor and Cathal, 18 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, sons-in-law, daughters-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives and a large circle of friends in the North and South.

Reposing at his Residence (A85 PP27) on Saturday and Sunday from 2pm to 8pm. Removal on Monday morning at 9am arriving to St Mary’s Church, Navan for 10am Funeral Mass which can be viewed live on https://www.navanparish.ie/livestream.
