Independent Joe Bonner may have scooped 25% of the vote in Ashbourne but heĀ wasn’t
quite so popular with a four legged fiend last Wednesday.
Bonner was bitten on the arm by a German Shepherd in Kilbride and received
tetanus injections in the aftermath.
He told Meath Live, ‘The dog clearly had had its fill of strangers appearing on his patch and just went or me.
I had to get my arm up to protect my face and throat and fought it off, but it gave me a decent bite on the arm
there was a struggle but I managed it.
‘I was probably grappling with it for a minute or so but it felt like a lot longer.
‘I just hope the owner had the decency to give me a number 1
I had to get tetanus shots later which wasn’t too pleasant but I guess it is an occupational
hazard when canvassing.’
