Navan’s new bridge across the Blackwater River is really taking shape and is on schedule to be officially opened later this year. These photographs taken exclusively on bank holiday Monday for Meath Live by Anthony Murphy of Mythical Ireland clearly shows the town’s newest piece of infrastructure and the approach road snaking past Blackwater Park. An opening date will be revealed later but is expected to be in November/December this year or early in 2026 at the latest.
Works on the removal of the roundabout on the Kells Road have been progressing. Traffic diversions in place around that area are scheduled to end in July. The Mayor of Navan Cllr Eddie Fennessy said that he had been told that the work in on schedule and will be delivered on time.

“The development of a new bridge over the river Blackwater is a key infrastructural project that will improve connection options between North and South Navan for decades to come. The bridge will prove new connectivity options to residents in North Navan. Congestion problems on the Ratholdron Road are expected to ease and I am sure that will be welcomed by the entire community.”
Cllr Fennessy said that the project was nearly at the delivery stage and he asked residents to be patient. “There will be a few more months of disruption but the means will justify the end.”
