A foreign national working at a beauty salon in Dublin was found to have no permit to be employed in this country, Navan District Court was told. The Ginger Beauty and Foot Spa Ltd, with an address at Milbourne Hall, Millbourne Crescent, Ashbourne was prosecuted by the Minister for Trade, Enterprise and Employment for employing the person at 10/11 Malahide Road, Clontarf on 22 nd April last year.

When the case was called a Ms Chen came forward and asked for the case to be dealt with. An officer of the Workplace Relations Commission had carried out an inspection of the premises and found a person there working on a customer’s nails. The employee was interviewed and was unable to produce a work permit.

Judge Peter White was told at first that the person had no previous convictions but it emerged that there had been a previous conviction for a similar office in the Dublin Metropolitan District in 2021 when the Probation of Offenders Act was applied to the case. The judge said there were no mitigating circumstances in the case and he imposed a fine of €600 and €996 costs with three months to pay.
